OECD Global Strategy Group discusses promotion of innovation and their role in shaping the world of tomorrow, 19-20 November 2018
OECD Global Strategy Group, presided by Switzerland, discusses promotion of innovation and their role in shaping the world of tomorrow. Participants particularly focus on the challenges to foster positive impacts of innovation to harness productivity, sustainability and inclusiveness. The question of closing ever bigger productivity gap and the role of the institution and education system in promoting innovation and research was particularly prominent.
Republic of Slovenia is represented by Ms. Alenka Suhadolnik, Director-General for Economic and Public Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a Head of the delegation, and Mr. Gorazd Renčelj, national coordinator for the OECD at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Director – General Alenka Suhadolnik attended the GSG working breakfast and called for a quick agreement about the next biennium OECD budget and about the OECD enlargement. DG Suhadolnik particularly emphasised the need for the start of the accession process to be aligned with the respect of the rule of law. This is necessary so as to ensure the credibility of the OECD enlargement process.
National coordinator for the OECD Gorazd Renčelj actively participated at the discussion about innovation and growing productivity gap, in which he presented Slovenia's Smart Specialisation Strategy as a showcase of national prioritisation for fostering innovation in a society. Mr. Renčelj also actively participated at the discussion about future of international taxation in the digital economy. As to the latter he explicitly warned against misinterpretation of the taxation of the digital economy.
